Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

While I enjoy seeing in person clients I am currently only accepting telehealth clients. This enables me to work with clients all throughout the states of Washington, California, and Idaho, and provide services to as many individuals and couples as possible.

How does online therapy work?

I am licensed to see clients throughout the state of Washington, California, and Idaho online. I use a program called Simple Practice. You will receive a link in your email before our session which will take you right into our therapy “room.” You can access Simple Practice from any computer, tablet, or phone.

What are your fees?

Washington Clients:

45-50 minute online Individual session: $140

45-50 minute Couple & Family Sessions: $150

*If you have more than 4 people in your family attending family sessions I charge $10 per extra person

60-65 minute Individual, Couple, or Family session: $160

California Clients:

45-50 minute online Individual session: $180

45-50 minute Couple & Family Sessions: $200

*If you have more than 4 people in your family attending family sessions I charge $10 per extra person

I take all major credit cards and health savings cards.

I am not currently taking insurance, but can provide superbills for insurance reimbursement.

What are the benefits of private pay?

Increased Confidentiality

Insurance companies often require a diagnosis and may request progress notes or updates that become part of your medical record. Pursuing private pay ensures that your information and sessions are kept entirely confidential between you and your therapist.

No Forced Diagnoses

In order to use insurance, the client must be diagnosed with a mental health disorder.  In couples therapy, one member must be diagnosed with a mental health disorder in order to use insurance. This can unfairly or inaccurately label a partner and shift the focus from the relationship to individual pathology. A mental health diagnosis can also follow an individual and impact their ability to get certain jobs, especially in certain fields. Private pay allows us to approach your care from a systemic and wholistic lens, without assigning blame or unnecessary labels.

Autonomy and Independence with Your Care

Private pay means that there are no limits on session frequency, duration, or total number of visits. We collaborate with you to determine what’s clinically appropriate and desired, not what’s covered by your insurance plan.

Aligned and Unbiased Couples Work

As marriage and family therapists, we work with both partners as equal participants instead of assigning one partner the role of "patient” or “support person," which would be required by insurance. Private pay allows for a more balanced and attuned approach to relational work and restoration which is a priority for me as a clinician.

What could I expect during my first appointment?

In our first session we will talk about what your presenting challenge is and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. We then will work through a list of questions that I will typically ask to get a sense of who you are as a person.

I have a questionnaire that I like to have clients fill out prior to our first session so that we can get the most out of our “getting to know you” phase of our time together.

How long could I expect to be in therapy?

My goal is always to work myself out of a job. The therapeutic process is unique to you. The timing of this process looks different for everyone - and that's okay. Once we begin sessions I can give you a rough estimate of how long our time together might be.
